Evangelize people who have life-controlling drug and alcohol addictions and initiate the discipleship process to the point where the individual can function as a Christian in society by applying spiritually motivated Biblical principles and Behavioral Health services to relationships in the family, local Church, chosen vocation and the community,  Adult & Teen Challenge New Mexico endeavors to help people become mentally sound, emotionally balanced, socially adjusted, physically well, and spiritually alive!

Adult & Teen Challenge New Mexico (ATCNM) works extensively with adults aged 18 and over. Most persons arriving at our doors bring a tragic history of substance abuse and other life-controlling problems. At ATCNM, the journey to sobriety includes attention to the spiritual needs of those who seek our help.

With a focus on the practical applications of Christian teachings, our students not only learn how to change deeply entrenched, self-destructive behavior but to discover a new identity in Christ that makes these changes possible.

People who come to ATCNM not only receive a holistic approach to recovery from life-controlling problems, but acquire a new value system that honors family, takes responsibility for the community, cultivates a positive work ethic, and helps them become productive, healthy members of society.

Teen Challenge, the initial name of the program, is a proven faith-based rehabilitation program launched in 1958 by Pastor David Wilkerson. Now, with over 265 centers nationwide and a U.S. Government recognized cure rate of 86%, Adult & Teen Challenge relies on local community support to deliver its “Faith-Based Solution to the Drug Epidemic.”

Our residential discipleship centers house adult men and women at a reduced cost to the participants and their families. We can offer this through our work therapy program, where individuals learn responsible work ethics and help support themselves while they are here. We also appreciate it when families can support their loved ones’ stay.

We ask that each participant ready to enter the program is tired of the life they have been living and ready to make a long-term commitment to the Lord and to complete the program. The individual, family, and the entire community benefit from the services Adult Teen Challenge New Mexico provides.

At Adult & Teen Challenge New Mexico, one way we help clients create a productive livelihood and transform addictive habits into healthy ones is through our work therapy program. This provides clients Vocational Training in several different areas while being supervised by ATCNM staff. Some of the training we incorporate are: 

• Car Washes – Proper use of a Hotsy Power Washer
• Thrift Store – Interact with the community by creating communication skills, organizing, and learning to work the register under the store manager.
• Ranch Hand – Building fence, creating resiliency
• Cutting Firewood – Proper use of machinery, safety training, and time management.
• Various other work calls – (Not limited to) Yard work/clean up, landscaping, deep clean houses, and home renovations

Long-term Rehab Program

Our 12 to 15-month residential substance use disorder recovery program assists individuals in overcoming self-destructive patterns associated with substance use. This program incorporates various evidence-based practices through a multidisciplinary team of mental health practitioners, counselors, chaplains, and coaches to address a participant’s physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. The first step towards a changed, healthy life. It can be hard to take the first step. But from the moment you step through our doors, there will be staff here with no judgment, only support. Many of our staff have been where you are and understand exactly what you’re going through.

Restoration Recovery Program

6-month residential. Our restoration program is designed to help you restore your walk with Christ, reestablish your recovery, and mend broken relationships. Sometimes we get off track, and we need a helping hand. A prerequisite is completing a yearlong program within an accredited Teen Challenge.
