“Hello, my name is David. My life dramatically changed ever since I came to Teen Challenge. On September 3, 2024, I came to New Mexico Adult & Teen Challenge seeking help, and they have been nothing but kind to me. I’ve had good counseling sessions, and they’ve shown me the love of Christ. I’ve been getting into the Word and growing closer to God. I’ve come to the conclusion that there is no other way but with God.

I gave my life to the Lord on April 13, 2025, at Harvest Church. Getting baptized was an eye-opening experience. None of this would have happened without Teen Challenge in New Mexico. Thank you for what you have done—through Christ.

I graduated this program on September 28, 2025, and chose to become an intern so I could help other students grow in their recovery. Not only am I helping them, but they are helping me heal. I know this is my calling. I am inspired by the way these men take up their cross daily. Their strength gives me strength.

“I’m 24 years old. I lost track of who I was and became ensnared in violence and drugs starting in my early 20s. When I came to Adult & Teen Challenge, I decided it was time to change my life—for myself and for the people I love.

Through the program, I rediscovered who I am. I found sobriety, clarity, purpose, and a renewed relationship with God. Matthew 4:16 says, ‘For the people living in darkness have seen a great light.’ I will never forget where God pulled me from, and I will never forget who He says I am. That will always be my true identity.

I am thankful for the people I met, the memories made, and the growth I experienced. Without this program, I would have never learned how to love myself again—or love those who truly care about me. This journey has changed my life forever.”

“I grew up in a good family and didn’t face much adversity as a child. In high school, everything changed when I found a new friend group. I began experimenting with drugs, alcohol, and violence. I got attention for being the ‘bad boy,’ and I chased that feeling. Before long, I was kicked out of school, lost jobs, and destroyed relationships with my family.

Drugs and alcohol swallowed my life. Eventually, I found myself facing a violent felony charge. Looking back now, that moment saved my life—it forced me to change. That change was Adult & Teen Challenge of New Mexico.

When I came into the program, I was surrounded by men just like me—men seeking hope. I saw positivity. I saw people who had dedicated their lives to helping others in recovery. And I realized I had a chance to reconcile with God.

I had pushed God out of my life, and it destroyed me. But God had been waiting for me with open arms. I surrendered everything to Jesus, and now I believe the old me is truly gone. The new me can finally live the life I was created for.

Adult & Teen Challenge was the bridge that helped me find myself, my faith, and my purpose again.

The verse I stand on is 1 Peter 5:6–7:
‘Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time; casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.’”
